Simon Sinek speaks to me.
You’ve probably seen his TED talk. This speech addresses a very different topic and is equally as thought provoking.
The talk ends at 22:00 and the remaining 20 minutes in Q & A
Please post what you took away from his message. I would love to read your thoughts.
Here are several ideas that I wrote down.
“The people who are doing the caring aren’t cared for…. and the impact is death.”
“In Business we are willing to give bonuses to people who sacrifices others so that we may gain. WE HAVE IT BACKWARDS.”
“When we are unfulfilled we look at the metrics. When we are fulfilled we don’t care about the metrics.”

Awesome share Eric! Loved it!
thanks Wade!
Really enjoyed this Eric–thank you. What I came away with were these points:
“The feeling of fulfillment comes from doing something for another.”
“This is what management and leadership is supposed to be doing–They’re supposed to be caring for us and helping us realize our own value” (…by rewarding and acknowledging effort).
“We would put ourselves at great risk to our companies if we knew they would do the same for us–but they don’t.”
As I grapple with a “manager” who is more of a “report-to” than a manager, it is helpful to hear what would be a more inspiring and and empowering scenario. I appreciate the insight.
That’s Terrific Becky!
